Hitachi Maxell iPod Headphones Stop the Noise Without Power

Hitachi Maxell iPod Headphones Stop the Noise Without Power If you don't own a pair of noise canceling headphones, then you need to rush to the store after you read this and immediately buy a pair. I cannot tell you how many times I have desperately needed to drown out the world in order to get something done. Noise canceling headphones are definitely the way to go. These new Hitachi Maxell HP-NC20.IPS headphones are the best I have seen to date. Not only do they provide the necessary noise killing, but they do it without any additional power. These iPod specific HP-NC20.IPS plug into the iPod docking connecter and draw power from the actual unit - a great design by the way. Hitachi Maxell states that the headphones will reduce outside noise by at least 20dB. The obvious bonus is that you don't have to supply power, but the drawback is that they consume your iPod battery rapidly. Also, volume control is supplied by the headphones themselves, because the iPod volume control is locked-out when the dock connector is activated. The HP-NC20.IPS will run about $80 and will be available later in December. Give them the once over, I have a feeling they are going to be a great set of headphones. via CrunchGear See full article. Holux GPSmile 61 Car Navigator: Review

Holux GPSmile 61 The Holux GPSmile 61 is a slim and stylish wide-screen GPS navigator for drivers. The device can give turn-by-turn voice instructions for each turn you have to make to reach your destination. It has a rechargeable battery for portability, but using it as a navigator when walking or cycling won't get you far because of its limited battery life. In any case, the GPSmile 61 is an easy-to-use car navigator with well-designed menu system software and responsive touch screen.

Iomega eGo Helium Drive is Sexier Than My Laptop

Iomega eGo Helium Drive is Sexier Than My Laptop If you are the proud owner of a ultra thin MacBook Air, new Aluminum Macbook, or Voodoo Envy, then you have a hard time finding peripherals that do your machine justice. I am lucky, a cinder block sitting next to my clunker of a laptop would look pretty good. Those sexy, thin, and sleek computers look almost too nice for their own good. Iomega has heard the call and answered with the eGo External Helium Drive. The eGo Helium is a thin and aluminum cased external hard drive that features a tapered and beveled body that measures in at just 0.63 inches thin. It has a single USB cable that supplies both power and high speed USB 2.0 data transfer The eGo Helium is obviously inspired by the MacBook Air or Aluminum MacBook, and it looks just as good as those two machines do. Currently, the Iomega drive is available in a 320GB flavor and retails for $149.99. Personally, I would like like to see a larger capacity for the same price. But, if you are running around with an ultra portable laptop with a small SSD drive then you need an external hard drive and you can afford to pay a little bit more for style. via ohGizmo! Mouse and SDHC Card Reader Join Forces to Free Desktop

Mouse and SDHC Card Reader Join Forces to Free Desktop Multipurpose devices really are the way to go. The Swiss were onto something when they developed that little army knife of theirs. That is why it just kills me when some desktop gadgets are so single-purposed that they make themselves obsolete before they even get started. That is not the case with this mouse / disk reader from USB gadget guru-site Brando. The combo disk reader and USB mouse is capable of reading SDHC, SD, microSD, microSDHC and miniSD (with the appropriate adapters). It might seem like a small improvement, but the mouse only runs $15. If you are going to buy a mouse, you should be on the hunt for one like this that does as much as possible. With USB ports and desktop real estate becoming more and more precious, the more synergistic devices can get the better. I would love to see the next version ship with wireless USB support so that I could even lose the cable. via ubergizmo See full article. Obama's Fireside Chat for a New Generation

Obama© hlkljgk In another generation, the "fireside chat" was made famous by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In this generation, youtube was made famous by a skateboarding dog. What happens when those two generations and ideals clash? That's right, you bet President Elect Obama hosting a "fireside chat" on youtube. It may sound like I am poking fun, but I am not. To be honest, the concept is one that seems remarkably overdue. The next president of the United States better leverage technology and use social media to the best of his advantage. I just don't know if youtube is the correct avenue. The site seems a bit "un-presidential." I would openly embrace any president doing a weekly address via the web on their site, or perhaps all the major media outlet sites, but the president on youtube seems silly. If you happened to miss the first of many online presidential addresses, here is the direct link. Am I wrong here? Is it the right time for an online video communication, and is youtube the right place? If I am wrong, I would love to here it. via Change.gov See full article. ASRock InstantBoot

ASRock, normally a company known as either budget or OEM manufacture for big companies has slowly, as of late, been working it's way more toward the hobbyist computer builder, and with this they might just take a big leap towards it! The video above (if it works, fingers crossed!) shows InstantBoot, a technology allowing you to boot from the BIOS to Vista Desktop in 4 seconds flat; a significant decrease compared to normal boot time. It works through linking to Vista's advanced power management system, setting up various hibernation and suspension without the user realizing. Hopefully this will be out on some consumer boards within the next few months... It's all very clever, and you get to see a nice man explain it and get rather excited in the video! Worth a watch! EA Gives Gamers Another Exercise Game Not to Play

EA Gives Gamers Another Exercise Game Not to Play Remember when the Wii came out a few short years ago? Remember the throngs of geeks and weirdos that waited hours in line to be one of the first to get the "revolutionary new Nintendo system?" Well, I was one of those geeks, but to be honest, for about the past six months, I have had to remember to boot up my Wii every couple of weeks to ensure that the fan bearings don't lock up. I don't play the Wii any more, I don't have a Wii Fit, and I won't be buying EA SPORTS Active either. The game was supposed to re-revolutionize the revolutionary revolution of working out instead of playing video games. It was supposed to one-up the Wii Fit fanatics out there. Instead, it makes the user look immensely lame, offers no fun, and guarantees that you won't be breeding in the future. Don't get me wrong, I have a few brother-in-laws that I wish I could have kept from breeding, but the EA SPORTS Active would be too cruel for even them. The EA SPORTS Active simply includes a thigh sensor to track your movements, and rubber resistance bands that make it harder to lift the Wii Remote. Honestly though, if your sole source of physical activity is the Wii, lifting the remote is probably difficult enough. If you purchase the game, I do promise that you will be at least $59.99 lighter, but you will still be out of shape - and you will look like a dork. source via MTV See full article. Ooma is VOIP on Steroids

Ooma is VOIP on SteroidsPhoto courtesy of iStockphoto, Evgeny Terentyev VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) has been hit and miss for many people; myself included. I have tooled around with Vonage, Skype, and others, but I have not been completely sold on any current VOIP technology. I have the same concerns that many others do regarding 911 calls, reliability, telephony features such as caller ID and call waiting. Ooma is introducing a dedicated, wireless handset phone and a wireless router that provide unlimited domestic and international calls to other Ooma phone owners. Because the set is fully VOIP, and features a broadband router, you get plenty of options including ringtones, caller ID, remote voicemail playback. Heck, the device will also be location aware so that if you call 911, the Ooma router will let the emergency personnel know your address. The dynamic Ooma VOIP pair will run $250 and should be available soon. If you and a few family members were to shell out the bucks, you could be saving a bundle in no time. Personally, I am not sure if this is enough VOIP muscle to impress me. If your VOIP experiences have been different, sound off and educate me! via dvice See full article. Viewsonic has Stepped Up the Photo Frames

Viewsonic has Stepped Up the Photo Frames I don't own a digital photo frame; my wife does, but I have never found one that fit my needs. I have this prerequisite for my gadgets that they are multi-fuction and as dynamic as possible. I have never been able to justify the purchase of a one trick pony device. Since most digital frames tend to be just digital frames, I have never bought the bullet. The Viewsonic DPG801BK and DPG807BK might tempt me enough to dive in. Both of these devices are 8" photo frames, but they offer much more. They include SwifTouch touch-screen technology that is only visible and aware when the device is being touched, they can play BMP and JPEG image (stored on the 512MB internal memory). The two Viewsonic devices also feature a 6 in 1 card reader and USB connectivity. Combined with the 800 x 600 resolution and 500:1 contrast ratio, these devices seem pretty sweet. The DPG807BK goes a bit farther with the addition of MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 playback and the ability to play MP3s in the background through the onboard speaker. You get all of this functionality for a cool $130. You should be able to fine both the Viewsonic DPG801BK and DPG807BK in stores now. via electronista. See full article. Dressing Like a Real Robot Doesn't Make Roomba Suck Better

Dressing Like a Real Robot Doesn I have to be honest. I have owned a pair of Roomba's and they sucked, but not in the way you want a vacuum to suck. They just were a disappointment. I know there are devoted Roomba Fanboys out there that worship the little robotic hockey pucks; I desperately wanted to be one. I love gizmos and gadgets so much that I thought a robotic vacuum was a sure thing. The first generation Red crapped out after 370 days, and my third generation Sage just was a waste. So, I think this shameless cross promotion with Wall-E is cheap and evil. I love Wall-E - he is too good for a Roomba. On the one hand, it makes sense. Wall-E is a robot, and Roomba wants to be a robot. Wall-E cleans up, and Roomba wants to clean up. But the Roomba just isn't fooling anyone. There is a good thing that iRobot is only releasing 400 of these. I would hate to see them actually become popular. Did I mention that this Roomba also costs a cool $50 more than its counterpart, and that the Wall-E Roomba is just a run of the mill iRobot Roomba 530? If this thing works, I wonder if I can put an a Brad Pitt sticker on my face and convince my wife that I am much more useful than I really am? via engadget See full article. I like My Toast a Bit on the Dark Side

I like My Toast a Bit on the Dark Side My wife just doesn't get my Star Wars obsession. In fact, she will tell you we had kids because we wanted to enrich our lives, but the truth is, I wanted someone to watch the Star Wars movies with, play with my old action figures, and have Light Saber Duels with. For those of you out there that know that I am not joking, this toaster is for you. Now, this toaster is better than the toaster toaster that I had written about before. That one paid homage to Battlestar Galactica, but this is the toaster to master all toasters. This toaster, in the guise of Darth Vader, actually toasts the Dark Lord of the Sith into white bread. It is then up to you if you want to finish him off with sugar an cinnamon or peanut butter. My wife won't understand why I would plop $55 down on this toaster, and to be honest neither do I. All I know is that my should be delivered by the end of the week. I guess the force really is strong with this one. Star Wars Shop via Ubergizmo See full article. Countact Lens Case Thinks So That You Don't Have Too

Countact Lens Case Thinks So That You DonPhoto courtesy of iStockphoto, Cristian Ardelean If you are at all familiar with David Allen's Getting Things Done cult philosophy, then you know that it is useful to have systems in place to think for you. The more time and energy that you do not spend on remembering things, the more "thinking-juice" you have for problem solving and producing. Putting these automated systems in as many places as possible can actually reap major benefits in your productivity. The Countact Lens Case, available from latestbuy is just the tool to think for you when it comes to contacts. It will only set you back $34. This practical gadget helps you remember just how long you have had contacts in and when you need to change them. This may seem like a simple thing, but it honestly is a useful feature. Trust me, if you lose track of time in the contact lens department, the ramifications can be very painful, and your productivity can come to a screeching halt. This contact lens case, with a 14 or 30 day counter on a LCD screen, also reminds you with an audible beep when you are due for a change. Simplifying your life and focusing on productivity can be as easy as freeing up a few brain cycles to focus on the tasks and projects that really matter. Tramigo T22 GPS Tracker for Real-time Monitoring of People or Vehicles

Tramigo T22 GPS positioning technology is familiar to many of us from satellite navigation products that guide drivers and cyclists to their destinations. GPS can be used in many other applications, such as tracking the location of objects, people or animals as well. As long as the GPS receiver can pick up satellite signals, it can calculate its exact location. In tracking applications, the challenge is to find a technique for transmitting the location information to someone who needs it. The Tramigo T22 tracking device has found a universal solution; the GSM network.

3D Imaging in Your Home Thanks to the JVC DLA-RS2

3D Imaging in Your Home Thanks to the JVC DLA-RS2 It may not be holograms or anything cool like that, but the JVC DLA-RS2 seems pretty darn cool. If you have a home theater, and you would like the visuals to be a bit more high definition and in 3D, then this JVC projector is for you. You don't even have to wear the geeky glasses. The DLA-RS2 boasts a full 1080p resolution, D-ILA projector lamp, and stereoscopic (think magic eye photo) video processing to create three dimensional and beautiful images of your Blu-Ray movies. The currently released Journey to the Center of the Earth, for example, would look spectacular through this thing. The acting and story would still stink, but the images would be fantastic. Due to be released in 2009, the DLA-RS2 is bound to be pretty pricey. JVC is not letting on with the price yet, but if you are the type of person would would be looking for a 1080p, 3D projector with a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, price probably doesn't matter much to you. Mintpad - post it notes for the 21st Century!

Mintpad - post it notes for the 21st Century! Alright, I've got to admit, I sometimes did enjoy writing entertaining little notes or heck, even little pictures, on post-it notes, and sticking them to a friend's monitor or possessions, and then awaiting the reply. It had this odd little bit of character to it that the ever so convienient email or text message lacks. So now, some ex-iRiver bods have got together in order to bring back the joys of postits electronically, with a device called the mintpad. It has all your ordinary MP4 player functions, including expandable memory via SD cards, but also allows the user to write little messages on it's touch screen, and beam them across they net to people all over the world. I'm a little Jealous of the T-Mobile G1 Today

I© secretlondon123 Honestly, despite the hype surrounding the Google phones, Android, and the T-Mobile G1, I have had almost no interest what-so-ever. That changed just a little bit today. Graham Stewart, a programmer from Ohio, has developed a proxy application that will allow a user to tether a laptop to his/her phone for road-warrior surfing goodness. That's right, the G1 will allow tethering. My iPhone allowed tethering for a day. That is before AT&T and Apple freaked out and yanked the Netshare application from the iTunes store. It would appear that the T-Mobile and Google don't have any reservations about letting the G1 be used the way God intended 3G phones to be used. I am still not sold on the G1, and I couldn't imagine going to T-Mobile where I live, but I must admit that as new handsets come out, and more functionality explodes across the smartphone universe, my iPhone is losing some of its luster. What do you think? What functionality is missing from your favorite phone, and on what phone do you find it on? Source See full article. Victor Has Built a Better Moustrap

Victor Has Built a Better Moustrap Let me start by saying that I am not an animal lover. I don't hate the furry things, in fact I have a couple of cats, but if I ever found myself starving to death, they would be the first to go. If I feel that way towards my cats, then you can imagine how I feel to the low-life rodents that they eat. As far as I am concerned, if a rodent invades my world, it has decided to make some sacrifices. That is where the Victor Multi-Kill trap comes in. This amazing little rodent death chamber features the ability to eliminate several rodents in the same trap, and it also allows you to keep your hands clean and not have to scrape rat-jerkey off of a rat-trap. Oh yeah, the Victor Multi-Kill trap also zaps the little buggers with a high voltage electric shock. Now, that is what I am talking about. The Victor Multi-Kill trap runs on 4 C-Cell batteries and can erase the existence of 150 mice per set of batteries. Imagine the mouse-terror you could let loose with a set of lithium rechargeables. If you are interested (and I am), head over to the Victor site and be prepared to lay down $99 for the this mouse-zapping beauty. Source. See full article. Bomb Proof Trash Cans are Not as Dumb as they Sound

Bomb Proof Trash Cans are Not as Dumb as they Sound If I were to try and sell you a couple hundred networked, bomb proof trash cans with LCD screens on them, you would probably hurt yourself laughing. The whole idea of such high-tech trash cans sounds very absurd, but that is exactly the direction that the fine folks across the pond in Briton are headed. The new trash cans, designed by Media Metrica, are not designed to protect the trash after an explosion (that is the absurd part), but instead they are designed to resist exploding when the bad guys drop a bomb in them. The bomb-proof bins are designed to absorb as much as the shock wave of an explosive device that is placed in them. If they do explode, they are designed to not turn into shrapnel. Not so dumb huh? The LCD side of things is simply a plus to do a little advertising and make some money. This becomes a win-win; people are safe, companies get paid, the bad guys get frustrated because their crappy evil schemes don't work. I like it. Source. See full article. Everyday Low MP3's

Everyday Low MP3Photo courtesy of iStockphoto, Dan Wilton First, Walmart was rumored to offer the iPhone in the near future. Then, it was announced that Walmart would be offering the Google Phone (G1). Now, Walmart will be offering MP3s for 74 cents. That's a cool quarter less then iTunes. Realistically, you will save $25 with 100 MP3s, and during these current economic times, that is nothing to sneeze at. To sweeten the deal, the new Walmart music store works with Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux. Heck, it even works with Safari and Firefox. It would seem like Walmart is really trying to take a bite out of Apple. It also seems like Walmart might be trying to improve their electronics and high-tech image. Now, the iTunes Music store has 8 million tracks as compared to Walmart's 3 million, and you have to come to grips with shopping at Walmart, but saving money is saving money. What do you think? Is it worth a quarter to shop at Walmart to boost your music collection? Source. See full article. Samsung NC10: The new Netbook King?

Samsung NC10: The new Netbook King? For some time now, the ASUS EeePC range of netbooks have been dubbed the best of the bunch, despite valiant challenges from larger companies (like Dell), but after LaptopMag's review today, we may well have a new king. The Samsung NC10 has all the ordinary features we have come to know; 10.2" screen with 1024x600 resolution, the power saving Atom CPU, 1GB ram; you know the draw specs wise. However, the one truely exceptional feature is the battery life; a massive, ASUS smashing 7 hours off one charge. Awesome? I think so. See full article. Dell Jumps on the Smartphone Bandwagon

Dell Jumps on the Smartphone Bandwagon Hey, if Apple can do it, why can't Dell right? After all, selling 10 Million Smartphones can't be too hard, right Dell? Dell sure hopes so, that is why they are sneaking out a pair of Pharos branded Smartphones while no one is caring looking. Meet the Traveller 117 and Traveller 127. A matching pair of QWERTY, Windows Mobile 6.1 Dell handsets. The phones popped up on a Dell website a bit early, and were quickly yanked, but they were there long enough for the whole world to notice. Nice strategic leak if you ask me. None the less, the phones feature: 7.2Mbps HSDPA support Assisted GPS 2 Megapixel Camera VGA video call capability 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby I don't think there is enough here to make a splash in the Smartphone market. Maybe someone needs to send Dell an iPhone, a Blackberry Storm (Thanks Steve), and a Google G1. It seems like Dell was to busy with their own plans to realize that there are already some really great smartphones out there, and the Traveller 117 and 127 won't join them. Source. See full article. Are You a Twitter Terrorist?

Are You a Twitter Terrorist? The U.S. Army has released a report regarding Terrorism 2.0. In the report, published by the 304th Military Intelligence Battalion, there is a chapter entitled "Potential for Terrorist Use of Twitter." Sounds scary doesn't it? I guess it could be true. Terrorists might want to know where each other are shopping, or what the other terrorists are eating right now. According to the Twitter division of the Army: "Twitter has also become a social activism tool for socialists, human rights groups, communists, vegetarians, anarchists, religious communities, atheists, political enthusiasts, hacktivists and others to communicate with each other and to send messages to broader audiences." Be afraid of the vegetarians and the human rights groups. There use of twitter could bring the whole world to an end. I admit, I have not read the report, but the very concept seems a bit alarmist. Yes, people use social networking sites. Yes some people are bad. Yes, some bad people will use social networking sites. I have also heard that terrorists and vegetarians are both eating tomatoes. Next, the Army will be after our Ketchup. Source. See full article. Related Entries: UCSD Tests Wireless Tech for Terrorist Attack - 31 August 2006 Why Twitter? Robotic Lawnmower Gets a Solar Upgrade

Robotic Lawnmower Gets a Solar Upgrade I wish I as was rich enough to be lazy. I would love to have my house cleaned by an army of Roombas, my floors cleaned by Scoobas, and my lawn mowed by a Husqvarna Automower lawnmower robot. But alas, I have to vacuum, mop, and push my own darned lawnmower. These automatic chore robots are very cool, and in the case of the Husqvarna Automower, they work quite well. They traipse about your yard while constantly mowing, and they turn around when they reach a buried boundary cable that is buried at the edge of your yard. The only real cost, besides the actual unit, is was electricity. That has now changed since the Automower has gone solar. The mower features a rooftop solar panel that constantly charges the onboard batteries, so now it is emission free, energy independent, silent, and robotic. If it ever decides to turn its 20 inch cutting blade towards its owners, were all in danger. But for now, the Husqvarna Automower is just a darn fine chore robot that will set you back about $3000. Nike Hindsight - Glasses That Mom Would Love

Nike Hindsight - Glasses That Mom Would Love I can't begin to tell you how many times my mom told me she had eyes in the back of her head. I am pretty sure she was lying, but I never wanted to test her. Now, thanks to Nike and their new Hindsight concept glasses, I might never know if she was lying or not. Nike Hindsight allows for an athlete or cyclist to actually see behind themselves. The glasses work like bifocals, but instead of magnifying, the glasses use lenses to extend a person's field of vision approximately 50 degrees (25 on each side) past the normal 180 degree field of vision. In other words, the glasses put eyes in the back of your head. These glasses will certainly help keep people safe as they enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling or running. After all, it would be helpful to at least see the car coming up behind you when you can't hear the horn blaring because of your iPod. Source. See full article. Panasonic Fuel Cells are Bringing Power to the People's Notebooks

Panasonic Fuel Cells are Bringing Power to the People I was impressed when my current MacBook could live for four hours on one battery charge; I was even more impressed when the new MacBooks could squeeze out five hours. How would you like to hit 20 hours on one charge or re-fill? Panasonic has announced a breakthrough in fuel cell technology that will allow for a fuel cell small enough to fit in a laptop or power portable electronics. Panasonic's 200cc fuel cell, weighs just 320 grams and runs on a methanol concentrate that can be stored in bottles. This fuel cell, even in its current configuration, will represent a massive leap forward in green computing, power savings, and energy economy. Panasonic is not anticipating these fuel cells to be commercially available until 2012, but who knows what developments will erupt in the mean time. Energy issues are about to get shockingly interesting. Source. See full article. Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Machine

Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Machine Sometimes I miss the days of pinball, and want a pinball machine in my own home. Assuming I could afford an actual pinball machine, I probably couldn't fit it in the small space that is my home. Fortunately, everyone's favorite mail order company Hammacher Schlemmer has perfected the Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Game. You can hang it on the wall, and instead of standing up to work the flippers, you can use a remote control. It is powered by a one 9-volt battery, which is enough for all the fun of flippers, hidden tunnels, and lots of electric lights. The Remote Controlled Upright Pinball Game is available now on the Hammacher Schlemmer website for a price of $119.95. Source See full article. Blu-Ray Bag of Hurt from Amex

Blu-Ray Bag of Hurt from Amex Steve Jobs labeled Blu-Ray a bag of hurt. Personally, I think Blu-Ray is a bag of high definition movie goodness and amazing data storage capability. Amex Digital is bringing an external Blu-Ray External Drive that will allow MacBook and MacBook Pro owners the ability to watch and burn Blu-Ray disks. This 2X (single layer) and 1X (double layer) burner comes in both glossy black or white and will allow you to store a ton of data or make your home movies ultra-high definition. Samsung Digital Picture Frame is also PC Display

Samsung Digital Picture Frame is also PC Display I don't really have a digital picture frame as yet, but they are becoming more and more practical. Some of them play MP3s, and this new one from Samsung can double as a PC monitor. These frames have a technology called UbiSync PC that allow a user to plug his or her PC to the frame via USB for a resolution of 800x600 or 1024x600. I'm not certain why you would use a digital picture frame as a monitor, but I wonder if it could be hooked up as a secondary monitor. Buy This Not That - MacBook Edition

Buy This Not That - MacBook Edition© galaygobi Oh, the new MacBook's - what tempting teases they are. Mark did a nice write up of the the new, sexy aluminum goodness. Being a Apple person, I could not help but drool over the new form factor, nifty trackpad, and faster chipsets. But, as I delved further, I found myself a little conflicted. There are some glaring drawbacks to the new MacBooks. Specifically, the lack of FireWire and price. So, as much as it pains me to say it, buy a refurbished BlackBook (high-end last generation black MacBook), not the new aluminum MacBook. Here is why. The current black MacBook sports nearly identical specifications as the high end MacBook at a $500 dollar discount - only $1099. Plus you get the black plastic body (which is now extinct) and a FireWire port for all of your video editing needs. Both the $1599 aluminum MacBook feature a 2.4GHz processor, 2GB of RAM (although the new MacBook has DDR3 RAM), a 250GB hard drive. Granted, with the newer model you get the NVIDIA graphics chip and the aluminum body, but you also lose the FireWire port, gain a breakable glass screen and a smash-able glass trackpad. Both the new unit, and the refurbished unit will have the same warranty and guarantee. I have owned four refurbished Apple Computers and I have never been disappointed. I have a BlackBook, and I love it. It is the sleekest and sexiest MacBook in my humble opinion. There is something about the mat blackness that is classy. Especially next to its white step-brother and the aluminum rich cousin. So, while you still can, buy the refurbished black MacBook and not the Aluminum sex goddess MacBook. See full article. Not one, but two Space Invaders products

Not one, but two Space Invaders products What is this, Space Invaders day? Today, while looking for items to report (yes, I do that), I found not one, but two Space Invaders products. The first is an alarm clock that is actually made by Taito, makers of the original Space Invaders game. It doesn't look like the clock has the actual game on it, not that it wouldn't be difficult to put the old-school game on it. It would probably have better graphics on it too. It does have a calendar and snooze button. If the clock isn't enough, feel free to add Space Invaders decals. Feel free put the set of 18 invaders, 2 missiles, and 2 ships to arrange in the classic manner. The Space Invaders decals are pretty expensive at about $45, while the Alarm Clock is about $79. A little expensive for my taste, but if you want to go all out on Space Invaders Day, these are the products of choice. Source 1 and Source 2 See full article. This is information can be used in a variety of ways as the Holux M-241 demonstrates. The Holux M-241 GPS receiver is only the size of an old-style film roll, but it provides three useful functions. It can save the route you have traveled and synchronize the location information with photos taken along the route. It can provide GPS positioning data for a navigation application on a mobile device, or it can be used as a speedometer and odometer.

Apple's new MacBook and MacBook Pro: Because someone had to report on it

Apple Well, the big news is out, and all gadget blogs are buzzing. Apple has introduced the new MacBook and MacBook Pro, with "new design, new features, and new technologies". It has precision an aluminum unibody enclosure and an ultrathin LED-backlit display. The other highlight is the NVIDIA graphics processor. However, the thing that will really revolutionize the computer industry is the multi-touch trackpad, allowing for "more clicking room and multi-touch gestures". The price could be a little high. The model with the 4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA 9400 and 9600 is for $1999. Aegis DriveAssisT Attempts to Save Us From Ourselves

Aegis DriveAssisT Attempts to Save Us From OurselvesPhoto courtesy of iStockphoto, Sergiy Zavgorodny Have you ever been seen that guy on the road that is just chatting away on his phone while he is driving down the road? That guy can be downright scary, if not deadly. I admit, I am guilty of it as well, but every day or two I nearly crash and have to thank God that I didn't die because I was checking an email or answering a phone call. Aegis Mobility is scared of talking drivers as well. They have developed DriveAssisT software for mobile phones that will effectively cripple your phone while you are moving at driving speeds. Your phone is still active, but calls are directed to a service that announces that you cannot take the call, and they should leave a message or a number. The Aegis DriveAssisT software sounds like a great idea, but I wonder if people will seriously use it. I suppose that companies and parents can force it on people, but will people voluntarily use this. I think many of us are too tied to our phones to give it up, even if it is to save lives. Source. Everyday iLow Prices on iPhones!?!

Everyday iLow Prices on iPhones!?!© cookieevans5 I wrote a few months ago regarding how the iPhone flood was coming. Back then, Apple was poised to sell 10,000,000 iPhones this year. Well, some people think that Apple has already met that goal for this year, and is now sailing past it. So, I get it, iPhones are not sheik, they are relatively common. Heck, even the blue shirts at BestBuy will sell you one. But rumor has it that things are about to get weird for Apple. According to BGR (Boy Genius Report) WalMart might very well start selling the iPhones in the coming month. That's right - WalMart. You will be able to walk into your local Super Center, get some leopard-print lingerie for the wife, some Sam's Choice Ketchup, a six-pack of Bud Light and an iPhone. Does this seem at all strange to anyone but me? Does that blast a double-barrell shotgun through the whole "I'm a Mac" image? Now, I am not trying to be a snob here; really I am not. I don't care if everyone and their brother have an iPhone. Heck, everyone I know has an iPod, and I still like mine. This is more about a store like WalMart selling quality, specialty electronics. Would you buy an iPhone from WalMart? What about a MacBook? When you picture WalMart, what quality do you picture? This doesn't bode well for Apple is this is true. On principal, I am calling this rumor a fake. Source. See full article. USB drive resembles old-school floppy The other day, I was watching an old episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and there was a plot twist that involved losing a floppy disk. I only bring this up because watching that episode from the late nineties forced me to think of the last time I used a floppy disk. Since thumb drives have replaced the floppy, it stands to reason that someone would create a USB drive that looks like one. So for those who want that bit of that early nineties nostalgia, this is your product. Apparently, the floppy disk USB drive has not even hit the market yet, so there is no word on a price, availability, or even memory size for this bad boy. Source See full article. Bulletproof Polo Shirt Might Be a Good Buy

Bulletproof Polo Shirt Might Be a Good Buy There is a scientific link between bad economic times complete economic meltdowns like the one we are currently having and crime rates. To put it simply, when times are tough, violent crime skyrockets. Well, in times like these, it looks like you could use a bulletproof polo shirt. This shirt, designed by Colombian designer Miguel Caballero, is made from an ultra-lightweight bulletproof fabric and is reported to be able to stop both a 9mm round and a Uzi round. Sure, the bullets will beat you senseless and you will feel like bloody hell, but you will live. Not bad for a traditional-looking polo shirt. The only drawback is the price. This piece of armored fashion will set you back about $12,000, but that might be a small price to pay for your life. After all, things are getting scary out there. Source. See full article. Bandai's Tuttaki Bako

tuttuki_bako1b.JPG Yes, what you are seeing here is true. Someone is putting their finger in a tiny box, and they are interacting with virtual images. Welcome to the wonderful and possibly eerie world of Bandai's Tuttaki Bako, otherwise known as the Tuttuki Box. It has the power to transform your fingertip into a pixilated form to interact with virtual creatures like a panda, a slime ball, and even the face of a female. I have no idea what the real fingertip feels, but if you want to try it out, the Tuttaki Bako will be available in Japan for a price of $30. Source See full article. Onkyo Takes Another Swing at Wireless iPhone Headphones

Onkyo Takes Another Swing at Wireless iPhone Headphones So, I have complained before about my iPhone, which I generally love, and its gross oversight in not having a Bluetooth AD2P profile. So, I bought a pair for Bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth 3.5 inch audio transmitter, and it worked perfectly like crap. Every time my iPhone pulled an email or synced with a cell tower, the transmitter and headset became unpaired. Onkyo is coming forward with the MHP-UW2 Wireless Headphones that might solve my problem. The Onkyo MHP-UW2 Wireless Headphones work on the 2.4Ghz spectrum. This means that the audio isn't subject to the compression present over Bluetooth, and the cell radio may not interfere with it. It would be great if this set of headphones are capable of delivering high quality sound without crappy wires. They are desinged for the iPod series of PMP's so you should be able to use them with the Classic, Nano, or Touch (and presumably iPhone). There is also a 3.5 mm jack for your other random players. It sucks that I have a piece of hardware that I love except for one glaring problem. I hope that this Onkyo headphones can be the missing piece of this puzzle. Source. See full article. Pedalite Anklelite keeps bikers safe

Pedalite Anklelite keeps bikers safe I remember when I was a kid and I went through this phase where I rode my bike to high school. Of course, when daylight savings time happened, it was dark in the morning. The light I put on the front of the bike helped, but it is the cars from the side that needed to see me. A company called Pedalite has found another way to light the path of the night biker with the Anklelite. It is solar powered, and once powered by the sun, it can be used for three hours. No batteries are required. The Anklelite can be used on the arm, or as just a strobe light. It should be on sale in December in the United Kingdom for a price of about $18. Source See full article. The Good News is You'd Make a Fine Ninja

The Good News is YouPhoto courtesy of iStockphoto, Niels Laan It is tough to catch a break in the news lately, it seems like everywhere I turn there is more bad news. Well, finally there is a bit of good news on the horizon - you may suffer from premature ejaculation, but at least you might make a good ninja. Let me explain... Dutch scientists have isolated and identified a gene that is responsible for premature ejaculation. It seems there is a gene that controls serotonin levels in the brain and these serotonin levels are responsible for how quickly men "get things done." This quickness isn't isolated to bedroom activities. According to the researchers, the gene has another side effect: "These men have very quick reflexes. They may be excellent at playing tennis or computer games, for example." I am afraid that this doesn't bode well for the stereotypical gadget and game loving folks who frequent blogs like this. How good are you at Ninja Gaiden? Did the game seem a little slow to you? I though so. Like I said, at least there is a bright-side. Source via Gizmodo See full article. Fanatec RennSport Wheel Stand Gets you in the Game

Fanatec RennSport Wheel Stand Gets you in the Game Ah, there is nothing that I like more than playing some video games, and it is always good to get more realism when you play. The RennSport Wheel Stand might be the ticket when it comes to racing games. The RennSport Wheel Stand gives the proper driving angle, and it has the appropriate pedals at the proper place for driving complete with shifter. It is compatible with racing controllers such as the Logitech C25, the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, and the Driving Force series controllers. The basic stand kit for the Fanatec RennSport Wheel Stand is available at the end of this month for about $129.95. Source See full article. Remock Lockey

Remock Lockey I'm not really sure how this next device works, but it is designed to be placed inside the door of a room and then unlocked from the outside with a remote control. Welcome to the wonderful world of the Remock Lockey. I suppose one of the things that makes this device unique is the remote control looks like a key. It is also good for those who just want that extra added piece of security. You should be able to purchase this product at the Korean site known as the Funshop for about $163. Incrudo 8GB Flash Drive is Not for Me

Incrudo 8GB Flash Drive is Not for Me There are two types of people in the world right now, those that are scared to absolutely freaking death by the current financial state of affairs, and the type of people that want the Incrudo 8GB flash drive. I am in the first group. Don't get me wrong, the device is sexy, it is sleek, and it would look mighty fine with my black MacBook, but the world is seeing a financial apocalypse and I can't afford it. The titanium covered, corrosion proof, water resistant, and crush proof. That sounds fantastic. It also is reenforced with super-hard ceramic so that it is both sturdy and resistant to temperature changes. If all that wasn't enough, it is also adorned with a single red ruby to prove that you can afford to put your data on an indestructible flash drive. Sounds good? The price you ask - a mere $831 dollars. Yes, that is right, it costs over $100 per GB of data storage. If you can afford one of these, could you please call my government and loan them a few dollars. I would love to know that the USA will be here in a few months. Source. See full article. Nokia N96: Review

Nokia N96 The Nokia N96 is a powerful smartphone that can do practically anything a high-end smartphone can do, and it can also record live TV broadcasts. Yes, that's right. The device comes with built-in digital TV tuner for viewing DVB-H broadcasts, and its built-in Electronic Program Guide makes it easy to record TV shows. And how about this? Its GPS receiver automatically saves geographic coordinates of each photo taken with the 5 megapixel camera for posting the pictures on shared maps on the Internet.
